WOW

Wow - The Web is on some fast Wheels. I'm using Google Groups
Rithmomachia and the Google Web Tool Kit to authenticate Players of our Game of Ambush. Probably use a Gadget instead of a Widget (same thing). What Fun!

Moving to new isp

I'm moving StarGraphics.com to webappacabaret to accomodate the Ambush Players app. It'll give me a chance to cleanup but the site but it will take a little while.

ipod nano 4th gen

Apple has reached the point where they've added so many features to the new 8 gb nano that it is completely unusable. It has a bigger and nicer looking screen and some neat ideas such as coverflow but the s/w is so bogged down it doesn't respond to input from the touch pad. It was predictable!

NEED

A lot of people misuse this word! A synonym for the word is require so a lot of times one should say "I should do this" instead of "I need to do this". Quit mangling the engish language!

I keep saying this but it really is getting close (Ambush that is). It is very hard to simplify. Our tendancy is to add as many features as takes to make a system unstable and unusable. I say this after a expletive filled session of trying to get two wireless vista laptops to share an hp printer (&^^&%^$((9). In my spare time I'm testing and working on the middle ware or piece that hooks up players.

I'm so over it!

Just recovered from the "XP Antivirus" virus - but you really never know. We had been virus free f0r so long, oh well. I'm currently testing Ambush over the internet which is a wild environment even compared to Windows. I'll let you in on the fun soon!

Almost There

Well I think I've found a light weight implementation of the jms that works over the web. I'm using some open source s/w called ubermq done by Rhombus Technologies. Its just about ready, really!

Just got back from visiting relatives in Spokane. It must be something in the water because I've come to the conclusion they are all psychopaths over there. I also choose my words very carefully!

Slowly getting there

I've put up the latest version of Ambush for the web but it still only works on a machine with an application server (I'm told it will work on a local network). I was horrified to learn after using JMS (Java Messaging Service) that it doesn't work over the internet. This means another layer has to be added or a switch to a another networking scheme.

Words

Words form the fabric of our thoughts. Essentially we are what we do and say (as long as we do what we say). Each thought has a biochemical reaction but what causes us to think a particular thought?

Monday, May 19, 2008

One person with a single idea or thought can change the world. It can be for the better or not.

I think that this game I've been working on for 16 yr (not continuous) could be bigger and better than chess. The game is Rithmomachia and our version of it is called Ambush. The web version is close to being ready so stay tuned. It will take this mindset to make it happen.

In windows vista (home premium), one can switch between users except applications have disappeared (closed) when you get back. These guys have had a long time to get it right but what the hell they're going backwards.

Tuesday, May 6, 2008

So at 16 breaths per minute we take over 23000 breaths a day. If our breathing is just a little compromised, it seems like this could still make a big difference.

Don't get me wrong the va has the best dr and nurses in the world, (it uses ones from the ohsu med school in portland). It's just that our (your ) president has left them badly understaffed and underfunded and keeps manufacturing reasons to start wars.
You know you waited to long to have that rash looked at when the attending invites all the interns and fellows in to have a look. The good news is it's treatable and I'll take my medicine like a man. The bad news is it's the VA and I'll have to go back.
